NASA Field Trip

Last Thursday, I got to accompany Derek and his classroom on a fun field trip. We drove out to NASA on Edwards Air Force Base and got to see some really cool planes, machines...and of course we were on the lookout for aliens!

Derek has a wonderful class and all of the kids were fun and I loved meeting them in person.

One of Derek's basketball friends works as a machinist there and he was kind enough to give us a special tour of that workshop. Protective eye gear everyone!!!

Whoo whoo

Last night I got to hear very clear whoots of an owl -- I wish, so wish, I could have seen him -- but it was pitch black outside. It was a very soft, soothing kind of whoot and was so cool to hear. My dad heard an owl sound when they were up for New Year's Eve - maybe it's the same one ? :)

I went online and looked up what owls we have in Kern county - there are 9. So I tried to find sample whoots on the web -- the three that sounded most like the one I heard were: the Great Horned Owl, Spotted Owl or Long-Eared Owl.

Setting Up

Derek & I have started working on the blue room - getting ready for foster/adopt kids. Here are some pics of the work in progress...

The bunk beds are cool - but what a pain to make the bed! We'll have to have reasonable expectations for that chore! May be just straighten the sheets and throw the comforter over it -- like the way we make our bed! LOL :)

Welcome 2010!!!

I'm actually looking forward to seeing what 2010 brings! My folks came up to Tehachapi to have dinner with us and ring in the new year. It was wonderful to see them!

Unfortunately, I've come down with some laryngitis so I've been 'squeaking' the last few days! But that's okay - I've got a whole year to shout! :)

Promises Kept - Christmas Glee

Nothing beats experiencing Christmas through the eyes of children :) Here, Aubrey, Garrett and Siena make gingerbread houses.

Promises Kept - Christmas Part 3

Day after Christmas was spent with my side of the family. Here's Tegan (6 mo.) - our newest little Gould angel

Isn't my hubby sexy in his new pink snuggie!!! Back off girls...he's all mine!

Promises Kept - Christmas Part 2

Christmas day we traveled down south to spend time with family. We got to see Kip & Mandy's new house and what a blessing to see them enjoy their home.

Kyranda shows off her new room - the play room is next door!

Present time!!!

Promises Kept - Christmas 2009

Christmas Eve was spent with a romantic dinner at Jake's Steakhouse followed by a special service at church to celebrate the true meaning of this advent season. We got to sing carols and it had an uplifting and reflective tone. The 'theme' of the meditation was "Promises Kept" as Christmas is the ultimate promise kept by God to us. I also thought it a wonderful hope for the coming 2010...and I think I will adopt it as my motto for the upcoming year :)

A Pre-Christmas Dusting

We got some snow last night! Not too much and it was already slushy when I took this picture on my way into work this morning -- but doesn't it just put you in the Christmas spirit!!!

And here is a new holiday decoration -- since we don't have a fireplace mantle - this was my purchase this year - it just came today finally so we made it just in time for Santa to come.

Blurb

Well, I just got my new Blurb 'blog-to-book' album in the mail --- and how fun to see my 2007 blogs turned into a hardcopy keepsake. I am very pleased with how it's turned out and software was free and easy and fun! to use -- here's a link:

I'll bring the book for the holidays so people can see -- very fun! :)
